NBL Preview – Under 16s versus Taunton & Torbay

Dorset Storm Basketball Club Preview veruss Taunton and Torbay February 2013Dorset Storm Under 16s continue their season this weekend with a tough double header against Taunton and Torbay.

First up on Saturday for the Poole based side are Taunton Tigers II.  Last time the teams met Storm came out on top after a far from perfect performance.  Something that assistant coach Jill Kemish hopes will be improved upon this time:

“Earlier in the year when we played Taunton, we didn’t impose our style for long enough periods of the game.  We have talked to the players about the importance of a 40 minute performances, that is what we want on Saturday.”

Storm head into the game on a back of mixed results and last weeks cancelled game was a frustrating one for both the players and coaches alike:

“Everybody was keen to get a good performance in last weekend, so the cancelled game was annoying, but I guess there are several positives you can take from it as well.  The guys have been working on some new stuff in training, adding more depth and variation at both ends of the court so we have had a week extra to work on that.

And let’s be honest, we’ve got another weeks worth of anger and pent up emoDorset Storm Basketball Club Preview veruss Taunton and Torbay February 2013 1tion to get out of our system this weekend.”

Taunton are a quickly improving team, and will provide Storm with a tough challenge.  They will bring bags of enthusiasm, hustle and quickness with them.  Storm will need to be at their best to be competitive once again.

On Sunday, Storm entertain Torbay Tigers who from a game the was postponed due to adverse weather last month.  Torbay are flying high near the top of the league and Storm will be out to prove a point when the two sides meet on Sunday.

“Torbay was the first ever National League game for a whole host of our players, if we are honest, we didn’t compete very well in that game.  We have come on a long way since then, and will want to register an improved performance this weekend.”

If you are free the players would really appreciate your support, so why not come down to Rossmore and make some noise!  Tip-off is at 3.30pm on Saturday and 2.20pm on Sunday.
