Under 12s Solent League Recap

Dorset Storm Under 12s Match Report

Dorset Storm Under 12s were looking to carry on their good start to the season in the Solent League.  Storm fielded a very young team, with several experienced players absent.

First up was Weymouth.  Early on both teams traded baskets.  For Storm a well balanced attack saw five different players score the first five baskets.  Defensively though, Storm allowed Weymouth too much time and space, as the half ended Weymouth led 14 – 13.  The game was tight in the third quarter too, as Kundiso Majome kept Storm in contact with their opponents.  In the final minutes of the game Storm began to run out of steam as Weymouth tightened their hold on the game to sneak out with the win 34 – 29.

In the second game of the evening for Storm they faced Dorchester.  A tired Storm team never got going, with Kundiso Majome and Chris Turner providing the only scores of the first half for the team.  At the break Storm trailed 4 – 12.  A bright start to the second half saw Storm make a 4 – 0 charge to narrow the gap.  They could not keep their energy level up though as Dorchester took advantages of some head down basketball from Storm.  Storm kept working hard, but slipped to a 26 – 12 defeat.

Despite the results, the performances from the players were good, especially when you considered the average age of the players on the court for Storm was so young.  Lots to work, but lots of positives to, ahead of the next tournament in January.
